We strongly commit to healthy eating at school and offer a carefully planned healthy and appealing school lunch. Lunches are freshly prepared onsite at a cost of £2.70 for a two-course lunch. Menus are set by Lancashire County Council and are sent home and children can choose daily if they wish to have a hot lunch (with a vegetarian, pasta or jacket potato choice) or a school-packed lunch. Children may choose to bring in a packed lunch from home.
All menus are planned to comply with School Food Standards and all new dishes are tested by children. Our meat is Red Tractor Farm Assured, our fish is MSC certified and our eggs are free-range Lion brand. LCS use a number of organic products throughout our menus. Fresh fruit and salad, bread and locally produced yoghurt are always available daily.
To make the most of seasonal produce, menus change a minimum of twice a year.

Whilst every effort is made to produce the published menus, please note that they may vary occasionally subject to availability and individual school requirements. All our menus are checked using a recognised programme to analyse nutrition. We also work with Lancashire Healthy Schools and support the Change 4 Life campaign. The result is a menu your child will enjoy and that will prepare them for learning in the afternoon.
September 2014 saw the introduction of Universal Infant Free School Meals where Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children can have a FREE balanced hot meal or school-packed lunch.
For Key Stage 2 pupils (Years 3 – 6). Payment should be made via our online payment system ParentPay.
Children are welcome to bring in a packed lunch from home and we ask parents to support our healthy eating by making sure any packed lunches that are sent in are balanced and healthy. We request that sweets and fizzy drinks are not sent in with pupils as we provide healthy snacks across the day.
Special meals are available on request for children on restricted diets and special arrangements can be made for students requiring a special diet for religious reasons.
If you are on income support, universal credit or income-based job seekers allowance, you may be entitled to free school meals for your child. Please come into the school office for further information on qualifying figures. All information is treated in the strictest of confidence. Alternatively, more information can be found on the Lancashire County Council website.
