OFSTED Report

Our latest full Ofsted inspection took place on 30 June 2026, our first inspection since 2022. It provides an important reflection on the continued development of Mayfield and the ambition, care and commitment of our staff.

Inspectors recognised Attendance and Behaviour and Inclusion as Strong, with Safeguarding standards met. They highlighted our calm and harmonious environment, the positive relationships between pupils and staff, and the highly individualised support provided to pupils with complex needs. Our commitment to the principle of ‘one size fits one’ was particularly evident, with pupils’ starting points, needs, barriers and aspirations carefully considered to ensure they receive the right support to thrive.

The report also recognises the strength of our personal development, pastoral support and preparation for adulthood, with pupils benefiting from rich experiences that build confidence, independence, character and self-esteem. Our strengthened post-16 provision, including recognised accreditations, work-related learning and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award, was also highlighted.

As always, the report gives us clear areas to develop, and we welcome that focus as we continue to grow.

Most importantly, the report captures what makes Mayfield special: pupils are valued as individuals, their voices matter, and staff are ambitious about what they can achieve. As one parent described it, Mayfield enables their children to “develop skills not thought possible.”
