Measuring Impact: How We Assess Careers Education

At Mayfield School, we are committed to ensuring that our careers programme remains meaningful, effective and fully aligned with the needs and aspirations of our students. To achieve this, we use a range of methods to evaluate impact and drive continuous improvement.

How We Measure Impact

We assess the effectiveness of our careers provision through a combination of qualitative and quantitative measures, including:

Student Voice

• Annual student surveys capturing pupils’ reflections on careers activities
• Feedback gathered during EHCP reviews and transition planning discussions

Destination Data

• Analysis of students’ post-Mayfield destinations to understand how well our curriculum and guidance support next steps
• Tracking trends over time to identify strengths and areas for development

Work Experience & Employer Feedback

• Evaluations from work experience placements, including comments from employers, staff and students
• Feedback from external partners and providers involved in encounters, workshops and events

Parental & Carer Feedback

• Comments gathered after key activities such as transition meetings, reviews and taster sessions
• Insights shared during EHCP meetings and follow-up conversations

Transition Passports

• Ongoing review of each student’s Transition Passport, providing a clear picture of progress, skills development and readiness for adulthood
