OFSTED Report

A full Ofsted Inspection was completed at Mayfield School during September 2022.

Since our last inspection in 2017, our staff have worked with determination and ambition to address the areas identified for improvement. The 2017 report highlighted the need to further develop curriculum ambition, embed assessment, and provide greater opportunities for pupils to take responsibility for their learning.

By 2022, inspectors recognised the significant progress made in all these areas. The curriculum was described as highly ambitious and carefully tailored to pupils’ needs, assessment systems were embedded and effective, and independence was promoted through life skills, community learning, and enrichment such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Safeguarding, leadership, and staff expertise, all judged strong in 2017, were sustained and further strengthened.

While enrichment was identified as the next area for development, the overall judgement in 2022 reflected a school that has not only responded to previous recommendations but has built on its strengths to deliver consistently high-quality provision for its pupils.

Pupils arrive at school in the morning happy and smiling. They receive a warm welcome from staff who take the time to ensure that pupils have a positive start to their day. Staff make learning enjoyable and fun. They make sure that each individual pupil has their personal and learning needs met.

Parent View

Ofsted Parent View is an online survey that allows parents to give their views about their child’s school. Parents can complete the survey at any time. Parent View is also the main mechanism for parents to give their views to inspectors at the time of a school inspection.
