Last Friday, Mayfield School had the distinct honour of welcoming the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle. His visit offered us the chance to showcase the incredible work happening across our school every single day.
As our local Member of Parliament, Sir Lindsay is well aware of the growing need for more places in special schools as he was asked to support the parents of pupils who are now thriving in our new Early Years building.
Sir Lindsay immersed himself in the Mayfield experience. He visited several classrooms, explored our recently enhanced playground and Woodland Learning area, and took the time to meet pupils and staff in our outstanding new Early Years facility. His visit wouldn’t have been complete without a stop at the College café, where he enjoyed a well-earned brew and a classic sausage butty!
Before leaving, Sir Lindsay shared his admiration for our school, describing the pupils as “amazing” and commending the staff for the exceptional work they do.
It was a truly inspiring visit and we are grateful for Sir Lindsay’s ongoing support of our school community.
