Gold DofE Residential – An Unforgettable Adventure at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre

Our Gold Duke of Edinburgh students recently took part in an incredible residential at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre near Glasgow, where they immersed themselves in a week of outdoor living, personal growth, and community service.

Throughout the week, the students camped in tents, embracing the challenge of outdoor living while building resilience and independence. Their days were filled with meaningful hands-on projects, including revitalising the centre’s grounds by weeding overgrown areas, painting fences, and laying down new sheeting to prevent future weed growth. Not only did they contribute to the upkeep of the centre, but they also played a key role in supporting the training of new staff, assisting with climbing wall and high ropes sessions. This not only helped the instructors gain confidence but also allowed our students to develop their leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.

Evenings were just as memorable, with opportunities to socialise and unwind. The group spent time with a visiting Salvation Army group, bonding over a silent disco and a talent show, creating lasting friendships and memories.

This residential was more than just a DofE requirement; it was a meaningful experience that fostered personal growth, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments of fun and achievement.
